Currimundi Lake has always been one of my favourite spots, the beautiful sand, the scenic inlet and the option between the still waters of the lake or the walk over the dunes to the beach. The kids love splashing in the shallow waters of the lake, there are short walks, plenty of seating options, a toilet block and a nearby cafe. You can sit and enjoy the tranquillity of the scenic heath and wildflowers surrounding the lake with the hidden coastal birds. Kayakers and stand up paddle boarders also love the still waters. There is also a nearby off-leash dog-friendly area on the adjacent Currimundi Beach (Gothic Street to Ann Street, beach access 255 to 262).

Recently the Currimundi Lake foreshore has been upgraded and ready for the summer crowds! The council wanted to recreate the area to fit in with the new Cliff Hargreaves viewing deck which was opened a year ago. There is now new beach access stairs, new showers, a bicycle rack and more seating options. A beautiful large turfed green space which has been created via a coastal stone retaining wall is now the perfect place for picnics. In addition, the new retaining wall will help protect the coastline area of Currimundi lake from erosion and will help maintain the Norfolk pines that tower over the wonderful area.

So why not grab a picnic and head down to Currimundi Lake for a family-friendly day out!
